Niibori Guitar Christmas (charity) Concerts are usually held in December in
each district in Japan.
The series of this concert was originated by Dr. Hiroki Niibori, being deeply impressed by heart warming concert (joyful concert with performer's explanations about familiar, old and new musical masterpieces) under candle light at Mirabel Palace in Salzburg, in 1965, with his intention to take music in daily life in Japan.
This concert started as a very rare (the first one, perhaps) concert at that time in Japan with conductors (Dr. Niiboris) explanation for the pieces of music. It will be sure that music & guitar lovers in Japan have been increased considerably by this concert regardless of criticism from someone related to music at that time.
And this concert is a charity concert to contribute money, contribution from audience and profit of the concert, to Japan Red Cross, UNICEF etc. continuously for long years.
This concert was also said to be a trigger of winning prizes of contributing for peace as the one from United Nations NGO (International Parliament for Peace Settlement) and declaring "Praying for Peace as the theme of the concert with cooperation of UNs NGO, WPPS (World Peace Prayer Society) and GOI Peace Foundation, raising flags of all nations on the stage, songs and pieces of music praying for peace became to be arranged in concert program, since 2003.
And, as this concert is the last concert of the year, the most popular pieces of music among the concerts in the year are also performed in this concert.
The main concert of Praying for Peace for this time is public performance in Fujisawa on Dec. 7 (Sat.).
Einzugsmarsch from operetta Der Zigeunerbaron, giving vigor especially in gorgeous works of Strauss, conducted by Dr. Hiroki Niibori, and Let there be peace on Earth, song praying for peace, costarring with guest singer Betty Yuzu, will be presented. Of course these pieces will be performed with explanation by Dr. Niibori.
And, God Help The Outcast from movie The Hunchback of Notre Dame with Betty Yuzu singing to her own Ukulele accompaniment will also be presented.
In addition, for performance by N-Orchestra conducted by Mr. Kazuyuki Terada, Overture from Opera The Marriage of Figaro, from pieces favorably received at public performance in September, Pirates of Caribbean, with joyful direction (pirates holding electric guitar play actively!), and Grand Jingle Bells, only in Christmas!, will be performed.
NE, conducted by Mr. Shibayama, will perform Bass Guitar Concerto Subaru, describing beautiful stars in the sky, with soli by Haruka Shiraishi and Mari Minakata.
Popular ensembles = DANROK, Niibori Guitar Ladies Quartet _ Dreamers the 3rd(D3) and Twinkle will also appear on stage. And please do not miss the performance of old instruments _ Carcassi Guitar (restored one made in 1816), only used in this concert, and Hand Bells with accompaniment by Lacote Guitar (restored one made in 1824) + Guitarron. This will give healing sounds.
Except for this concert, raising Praying for Peace, concerts connected to Christmas, live performances and dinner show will be held.
We will be happy presenting you a wonderful Christmas time.
